Dent County VINELink Coverage
MOVANS stands for Missouri Victim Automated Notification System, part of the VINE and VINELink family. It belongs to the state. For a custody search and alert signup, the official Missouri MOVANS portal is the route to use. When a local jail participates and sends its data, MOVANS can report custody there and the events that follow. Prison records and court-event registrations run through separate parts of the service. None of that makes MOVANS a full Dent County arrest log.
Dent County Jail is not named as a participant. That gap means unverified, not absent. A person missing from the results could reflect an offline jail, a spelling mismatch, or a delayed transmission. It does not rule out an arrest. Nor does it prove a release.
Use VINE as one alert source among several. For urgent custody or safety questions, go straight to law enforcement or victim services.
Check a Dent County Arrest
The current VINELink search interface supports a state and custody search. An older Missouri public-user guide describes lookups by name or identification information. Enter enough detail to separate people with similar names. Skip another person's private contact details. Match the result against the booking agency and location.
- Open MOVANS or VINELink and select Missouri.
- Choose the applicable custody or offender search.
- Enter the person’s name or known identification information.
- Review possible matches for age, reporting agency, and custody status.
- Open the matching record and note the status and agency.
- If nothing appears, contact MOVANS and the Dent County Sheriff’s Office.
A brand-new Dent County arrest may lag behind the alert system. The county posts no public jail roster or booking feed. That makes the sheriff the official local fallback. The Dent County recent arrests hub sorts out how local custody, an MSHP arrest report, a court case, and a DOC record each describe a different stage.
Searches there start with a state selection. The official VINELink source displays the live search screens.
The screen is a search and registration tool, not proof that every Dent County booking appears there.
Dent VINELink Result Fields
What shows up depends on the reporting agency. Older state reference materials describe identity and custody fields. A Dent County result can omit any of them. Treat a listed date of birth as matching data only, and do not count on a booking photo appearing.
| Field | What it can tell you | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Name, age, or date of birth | Helps separate similar names | Verify identity with care |
| Custody status | May state in custody, released, or transferred | Depends on agency transmission |
| Agency or reason | Identifies the reporting authority or event context | Not a complete incident report |
| Reporting agency | Shows who supplied the event | May differ from the arresting agency |
| Offender or record ID | Helps retrieve the same result later | Not a court case number |
Custody status tells you where the system places someone right now. It is a snapshot, not a case outcome. That outcome is called the disposition. Missouri Case.net or the court file holds the disposition once prosecutors file a case. A VINE alert will never carry it.
May 2026 MOVANS Change
Missouri DPS announced a MOVANS change on May 6, 2026. The DPS notice describes an update made the day before. Anyone tracking offenders in local jails or detention centers must re-register through MOVANS. Delivery is now SMS or email. Prior phone alerts and VINELink-app notices for local-jail offenders do not continue. Do not assume an older registration carried forward.
DOC-offender and court-event registrations continue as before. Users may still need to confirm their preferences. A local Dent County Jail event, a Missouri DOC event, and a court event are separate. They are not the same subscription. Check each one that matters. An older brochure may describe phone calls, app delivery, or a repeated-call schedule. It no longer speaks for the portal.
The Missouri MOVANS portal remains the official destination for re-registration. Backup contacts help whenever the site is slow to load.
An error or a no-result screen calls for phone and email confirmation, not a conclusion about custody.
Register for Dent Custody Alerts
First, find the person in the right MOVANS system. Pick the event types offered. Provide an SMS number or email address under the current local-jail workflow. Follow the confirmation prompt and keep registration details private. Older VINE materials mention a unique four-digit PIN, but the portal's on-screen directions control if the screens differ.
- Open the matched custody record.
- Select the release, transfer, or other available event.
- Choose SMS or email for a local-jail registration.
- Enter only your own contact information.
- Complete the confirmation required by MOVANS.
- Keep any PIN or confirmation code private.
Alerts depend on accurate contact data and a timely report from the responsible agency. Delivery can lag behind the actual custody change. Never publish a registrant's phone, email, or PIN. And never register someone else without authority over that contact channel.
Confirm Dent County Custody
When MOVANS is down or a Dent search comes up empty, call the program at 573-526-1929. Weekday hours run 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Email works too: movans@dps.mo.gov. For the local answer, contact the Dent County Sheriff's Office, which operates Dent County Jail and handles custody questions directly.

The sheriff's page posts no dedicated jail-information line. When you call, ask to speak with the jail or the records custodian. Have the person's name ready, along with a rough window of when the arrest happened. If the arrest came from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the 24 Hour Arrests page walks through the patrol-only same-day route. It covers the state feed's five-day window. Keep one thing straight, though. A patrol entry is an arrest report. It is not proof the person is still sitting in Dent County Jail.
VINELink Arrest Check Limits
VINE has real limits worth knowing. It skips many jails, arresting agencies, and federal facilities. It is not an incident report or a criminal-history report. Nor is it a court docket or a reliable photo source. Alerts fire only when the agency transmits the event, so timing can wobble. A release notice, even a correct one, says nothing about the release terms. It says nothing about how a charge ends.
- Booking
- The intake process after an arrest, including identity, charge, and custody data.
- Transfer
- A move from one facility or authority to another.
- Disposition
- The court’s final outcome, such as dismissal, plea, acquittal, or conviction.
- Detainer
- A request by another authority to hold or notify before release.
Federal and immigration custody call for different tools. The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator handles federal inmates. ICE runs its own detainee search. Someone held by the U.S. Marshals Service may never surface in a public photo system. Don't push MOVANS to answer those federal questions. Match each question to the right agency first. For current Dent County Jail custody, the sheriff is the source. The same office keeps the booking record. MSHP Online Arrest Reports cover patrol arrests only. They stay online for a short window. The Missouri DOC Offender Search lists active state prisoners, probationers, and parolees. CaseNet holds public court events once a case is filed. One blank result never erases what another system may hold. When a notice lands, write down the event type. Note the reporting agency and the time shown. Then confirm any release or transfer with that agency. Transmissions lag. Names get spelled differently. An alert will not explain bond terms or later court orders. Dent County Jail questions go to 573-729-3241 or 573-729-6156. MOVANS access problems go to 573-526-1929 during weekday business hours, or movans@dps.mo.gov. Those contacts work even when the portal is down. They also work when the county search finds no match. Guard your alert registration. Never publish the PIN, the verification code, or the phone and email tied to your notices. If safety is at stake right now, call law enforcement or victim services. Do not wait on an automated message. Missouri's own materials warn against making VINE the whole safety plan. For any urgent custody question, direct confirmation is still the safest move.
A booking entry shows that Dent County deputies took a person into custody.
